Latvian racing driver Valters Zviedris will drive a full season in the 24H Series in 2025, racing for the experienced and successful Muhlner Motorsport team. Following the successful Abu Dhabi 6-hour endurance race, where they jointly won the Porsche 992 class, Zviedris and the German team have agreed to continue their partnership, which will include five rounds on legendary European tracks this season, culminating in Barcelona, where the Latvian driver will compete in his first 24-hour endurance race.

The same as in Abu Dhabi at the end of January, Valters will compete in the upcoming European rounds with Estonian driver Martin Rump, piloting the Porsche 911 GT3 CUP car that they are both familiar with and together forming the core of the Muhlner Motorsport team. It is expected that another driver will join the Baltic duo in the endurance races, although this has not yet been announced. The first round of the 24H Series endurance championship – 12H Mugello – will take place next week, on 21-23 March 2025, at the Mugello circuit in Italy, where the Latvian driver had a successful race a year ago.
“I am thrilled to announce that in 2025, I will compete a full season of the 24H Series endurance championship, competing for the Muhlner Motorsport team. The plan is to fight for the 992 class victories and the championship title with Estonian driver Martin Rumpa. As the result of the “6H Abu Dhabi” race proved, the team is very strong, we worked well together, and that is why we came to the decision to continue this cooperation together. I was pleased not only with the shared speed, but also with the positive atmosphere in the team. The people have been in motorsport for a very long time, understand what they are doing and know how to prepare the car, and they are also very strong in terms of strategy,” says Valters Zviedris, explaining his decision to compete in the “24H Series” endurance race with the “Muhlner Motorsport” team this season.

The Latvian racing driver then talks about the upcoming tracks: “I am also pleased that the tracks in this championship are very interesting and famous, and it is also important that I have already competed or at least trained on some of them. I competed in Mugello last year as part of the “24H Series”, and last season the “Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux” weekend in Spa-Francorchamps was successful, where I will be happy to return. This will be followed by the Misano race, which will be the only completely new track for me, while the fourth stage will be at the Paul Ricard circuit in France, where I successfully represented Latvia at the FIA Motorsport Games in 2022 with the Audi RS3 TCR.”
The final stage in Barcelona will be something very special for Valters: “It will be my first 24-hour race. The first four stages are 12-hour races, culminating in the 24 Hours of Barcelona at the end of the season. Driving at night in the dark, the long “stints” of several hours at the wheel, I can’t wait! It will definitely be a challenge for both the drivers and the team, but in any case, it will be a dream come true on the way to even bigger 24-hour races. By choosing to switch completely to endurance racing, I have also set myself a goal to strive for – to compete in the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans in the near or distant future. Therefore, this season, I want to show my best in this “24H Series” championship, fight for the title, and move step by step towards Le Mans.”

Valters emphasizes that completing a full season of the “24H Series” championship would not be possible without his long-time supporters: “Many thanks to my partners “Baltijas Sporta Auto – Porsche Latvija”, “Optibet Latvija”, “iPS Media”, “Industry Service Partner”, Jūrmala, “Blue Shock Race”, ”Joker klubs”, “Energolukss”, “I-Con” and SIA “Dārta”. I am glad that together with the supporters I can continue to carry the name of Latvia in Europe.”
It should be noted that the “Porsche 911 GT3 CUP” racing car is already very well known to the Latvian pilot, as this will be the third season for Valters at the wheel of such a car. After winning the Northern European title in 2023, a very big step up was taken last year, starting in the “Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux”. However, the season there was a bit unlucky because of the car, and compared to the competitors, it was possible to conduct too few training sessions to adequately prepare for such a high level championship and regularly fight for podium positions.
