Action in Parnu

22 August 2023

With an impressive composition of participants and mixed weather conditions, the Baltic Touring Car Championship round “Parnu Summer Race” and a round of NEZ Porsche Sprint Challenge took place on 19-20 August in Parnu, Estonia, where Valters Zviedris had two sprint races with Porsche 911 GT3 CUP car and also 4-hour endurance race with Cupra TCR DSG.

The first day started with the race of the NEZ Porsche Sprint Challenge series, where Valters Zviedris, the leader of the championship, was among the 13 participants from Finland, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. In qualification, he took fifth place, but a good start to the race in rainy conditions and overtaking in the first laps allowed him to quickly move up to second place behind the Finnish pilot Olli Kanga. However, with four turns to go, the rear right tire failed, and, as a result, two athletes managed to overtake him, so Valters finished fourth. In the second race, starting from the eighth place, Valters was able to move up several positions. In the second lap of the race, after a collision with the Finnish athlete Jukka Eerola, the fight had to be continued from the end. Valters chased the leaders but finished ninth in the race. Before the final stage of the NEZ Porsche Spring Challenge, Valters has 177 points, and he is 15 points ahead of his closest competitor, Matias Salonen.

On the second day, the Baltic 4-hour Endurance race took place. The new race format of four hours was unpredictable and open for everyone to prevail. In total, 24 teams from Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Finland, Great Britain and Israel took part in it. Valters, together with the drivers Ramunas Capkauskas and Eduardas Klepikas, were representing the “Albe Alliance Racing Team” from Lithuania in the Touring Car 3 (TC3) class. In the competition of seven teams in this class, the team finished in the first position in the TC3 class, followed by LV Racing and acitool.com by DMK Racing Team.

The next and final stage of the NEZ Porsche Sprint Challenge will take place on 1-2 September in Alastaro, Finland, where Valters will do his best to defend the championship title of this season.

In conclusion, Valters would like to say a big thanks to all supporters of this season: “Baltijas Sporta Auto – Porsche Latvija”, “Optibet Latvija”, “AOX Trade”, Jūrmala, “Visit Jūrmala”, “Blue Shock Race”, “NPK Expert”, “Joker club”, “Energoluks” ”, “I-Con” and SIA “Dārta”.
