On 25-26 September, the last round of the Baltic Touring Car Championship (BaTCC) “Motul Grand Prix” took place in Bikernieki race track (Riga, Latvia). Valters was participating both in the 6-hour endurance race and the TCR sprint race representing the team “LV Racing” with the powerful Audi RS 3 LMS TCR car.
Battles were very intense in the TCR sprint races. Until this round, Valters and his competitor Mikk Maaten (Estonia) held the same amount of points – 126, while Kestutis Stasionis (Lithuania) was in the competition with 96 points.
Valters showed the best lap time in the qualification round. However, during the first race, his car had some difficulties, which allowed Maaten to finish first, ahead of Stasionis, and Valters in the third position. Valters got his revenge in the second race and finished first, nevertheless, it would give Maaten first place in the race and in the season overall. However, after the finish, Maaten was excluded for a technical infringement, that is why Valters inherited the champion’s title and is now the Baltic champion in the TCR class!
The 6-hour endurance race had 14 teams on a grid seeking season victories. Valters was driving in a team together with the experienced Latvian drivers Konstantins Calko and Ivars Vallers. Overall, the victory was taken by the “Flash Racing” team with Lamborghini, having “LV Racing” behind them, and “ALM Racing” holding 3rd place. But in the TCR class, “LV Racing” team held the victory.
Valters expresses thanks to Jurmala City Council for sponsoring participation costs for many years, and to other supporters – SIA “Optibet”, “Gatorz Eyewear Europe”, “Blue Shock Race”, “Joker Klubs”, ”I-Con”, “Rosenso Marketing”, “IAuto.lv” and others.
