Two cups at the “Estonian Grand Prix”

14 August 2026

Last weekend, the prestigious “Estonian Grand Prix” race took place at the “Porsche Ring” track in Estonia. For the second time this season, Valters Zviedris raced with “Legend Car”, who went to battle against the strong representatives of the Finnish championship. The Latvian pilot once again demonstrated excellent speed, however, this time he was slightly limited by both the technical solutions of the vehicle and a couple of mistakes. Despite this, he managed to fight for victory and bring home two cups from Estonia.

Let us recall that the Latvian driver participated in the Swedish “Legends Cup” series at the beginning of June, where he managed to win 4th place in one of the races. Thus, the just-held “Estonian Grand Prix” race was only the second start this season at the wheel of a car. The weekend in Estonia started on Thursday with tests, followed by two official practices and qualifying on Friday, while both races were held on Saturday.

“We had a great weekend in Pärnu, where we got to compete with strong Finnish drivers with the Legend, which we haven’t seen in a long time. On Thursday, we did two warm-up sessions, and found the right settings and tire pressures. On Friday morning, we gained a lot of confidence and fought with the others on the track to see what the race pace would be. We also qualified successfully and managed to win third place. This is a very good result, especially considering that we were the only ones driving with the old engine and rear drum brakes,” says Valters Zviedris about the first two days.

While the conditions were dry during the testing and practice/qualifying days, it rained on race day, significantly complicating the preparation process for the race. “It was difficult to understand the conditions on the track, because the weather conditions were changing. In the morning it rained a lot, then the sun came out and everything dried out, but before the race it started to drizzle again. Therefore, it was difficult to understand what to do with the tire pressures, because in wet weather you have to raise them quite a bit. We came to the conclusion that we would put something in between dry and wet, because at the beginning the track was really still wet, but towards the end it was already dry again. The speed was good, I had moved up to second place and I was very much in the mood to catch up with the leader. However, in the famous Parabola turn I came in too fast, hit the wet part and slid off the track a little. I managed to get back to fifth place with some success, and there was such rage inside that I wanted to immediately regain what I had lost. I fought forward, but I ended up going off the track again in the same turn and falling to ninth place, and at the end eighth,” the Latvian driver describes the race.

Considering that Valters had managed to set the second fastest lap time in the first ride, the Latvian talent started the second race from second position. “The start was average this time, because I fell to third place, but I was in this position for most of the race, and for a long time I was close to the first two. Unfortunately, towards the end of the ride, my old air-cooled engine got a little tired and I had to fall to fourth place. Overall, it was a solid race, I didn’t make any mistakes, but this time I lost to the new water-cooled engines. I was satisfied with the performance of the second ride, fourth place is also considered a good result,” the Swede comments on the second ride.

Since one SEMI PRO driver finished in the top three, the Latvian pilot climbed onto the PRO podium in third place. Similarly, in the Finnish “Legend Cars” championship, the top five drivers receive a cup, so Zviedris could go home with two cups in the end. “The whole stage can be evaluated with positive emotions. Many thanks to both dad Aigars Zviedris for the initiative to pull the Legend out of the garage, and to mechanic Konstantins for the excellent preparation and maintenance of the car throughout the weekend. If at first it seemed that we would fight for the top ten, then in the end we could think not only about the podium, but also about victory,” Valters Zviedris is positive after the stage.

Valters would also like to thank all the supporters who support his motorsport journey – “Baltijas Sporta Auto – Porsche Latvija”, “Optibet Latvija”, “iPS Media”, “Industry Service Partner”, the city of Jurmala, “Blue Shock Race”, “Joker klubs”, “Energolukss”, “I-Con” and SIA “Dārta”.

Finally, it should be mentioned that the second Legend car of Valter’s is currently being fitted with a new generation engine, which will be installed soon. Thus, there is a possibility that the Latvian driver will start at a Finnish or Swedish championship round this season with the latest generation equipment.
