Latvia was represented in five disciplines: car slalom, digital car sports, cross-karts, touring cars, as well as drift, which brought Latvia its first medal in these world-class games.
Each country was given the opportunity to enter its drivers for the games in 16 different motorsport disciplines, in each of which the first three places were awarded gold, silver and bronze medals. The overall Games title was awarded to the country that won the most gold medals. The top eight medal results from each country were taken into account in the overall medal table. Kristaps Blušs, in the drift discipline, won the gold medal for Latvia, placing the country in the sixth position out of a total of 72 member states.
On the final day of the competition, Valters Zviedris had his main races. He was able to achieve a positive result in the qualifying race, which gave him a good starting position in the main race of this competition. From a total of 18 national pilots, Valters won a high fifth place for the Latvian team.
“A very good result was achieved, considering the famous pilots who competed in this discipline. Lots of intense, tough battles and interesting overtaking on the track. We fought as much as we could, we have done a good job, and we trained a lot to achieve a TOP5 finish. I am happy about myself, the “LV Racing” team and the drivers from Latvia as a whole. We have represented our country in the motor sports games with honour.”
The Spanish city of Valencia has been announced as the next venue for the games in 2024. The games will be organised on the Ricardo Tormo circuit, the center of Valencia and other nearby locations.
Valters expresses thanks to Jurmala City Council for sponsoring participation costs for many years, and to other supporters – SIA “Optibet”, “Gatorz Eyewear Europe”, “Blue Shock Race”, “Joker Klubs”, ”I-Con”, “Rosenso Marketing”, “IAuto.lv” and others.
