The final round of the Baltic Touring Car Championship “Riga Grand Finals” took place on 24-25 September on the Biķernieki circuit, where Valters Zviedris became the Baltic and Latvian champion in the most popular “BMW 325 CUP” class.

“The competition in Riga had only one goal – for me to become the champion, and we did it together with the “LV Racing” team! It was an exciting race with lots of overtaking and drama on the track. I did my job and winning such a big competition is a very fantastic feeling! Thanks to the family, team, and supporters – we are the champions!” said Valters right after the finish.

French driver Leo Messenger started the first race of the “BMW 325 CUP” from the first position, followed by the Latvian pilot Ričards Šubeckis, and after 14 laps both finished at the same positions. The closest follower of Valters in the overall standings and the last season’s champion in this class Karolis Jovaiša finished third. Valters, who was one point short of securing the championship title before the second race, was fourth in the race.

In the second race, Leo Messenger was in the lead for a long time, but technical problems with the gearbox forced him to retire, taking over the lead from Karolis Jovaiša, behind whom Valters Zviedris was holding on safely at the rear. In the second race, Jovaiša was first, Valters was second, securing the championship title, and Ričards Šubeckis was third.

According to the results, Valters Zviedris is first in the overall standings of the Baltic Championship, Karolis Jovaiša is second, and the Estonian Romet Reisin is in third place. In the “Masters” category, Matīss Mežaks became the champion. In the “Rookie” rating, the first place went to Krišjānis Oskerko, while the fastest in “Ladies” was the young Estonian athlete Carmen Kraav. Overall 65 participants from Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Finland and France entered the “BMW 325 CUP” class in five stages of the Baltic Touring Car Championship.

Valters expresses thanks to Jurmala City Council for sponsoring participation costs for many years, and to other supporters – SIA “Optibet”, “Gatorz Eyewear Europe”, “Blue Shock Race”, “Joker Klubs”, ”I-Con”, “Rosenso Marketing”, “IAuto.lv” and others.
