This weekend, the second round of the “24H Series” endurance racing series will take place at the Spa-Francorchamps track in Belgium, where Valters Zviedris will also be at the start as part of the “Mühlner Motorsport” team. This will be a return for Latvia’s leading race driver to the Belgian track, where he managed to win a podium in the “Rookie” category in the “Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux” championship last season.

A total of almost 40 teams will start in the second round of the “24H Series” championship European season – “12H Spa-Francorchamps”, 10 of which will compete in the “992” class represented by Valters, in which the athletes pilot “Porsche 911 GT3 CUP” cars. After the unsuccessful first stage, in which the “Mühlner Motorsport” team had to retire just 30 minutes before the finish due to a driveshaft defect, the team and all three drivers are ready for revenge. Like in Mugello, the Latvian driver’s teammates in Spa-Francorchamps will be Estonian Martin Rumps and German Julian Hanses, forming a three-strong and young driver line-up.
Considering that both practice runs and qualifying will be held on Friday, Valters Zviedris is already in Belgium and shares his first impressions: “We have arrived in Belgium and the weather is as usual in Spa – cloudy and raining. The weather conditions promise to be changeable throughout the weekend, as it will be similar to the first stage in Mugello, and most likely we will have to drive on both rain and dry-type slicks. We must follow the forecasts carefully to make the right adjustments; it will be a challenge again.”

“We showed in Mugello that we are fast and can fight for the victory in the class. I know the Spa-Francorchamps track relatively well, and last year I had my most successful weekend there in the “Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux” championship. My teammates Martin and Julian have also driven on this track, and all three of us really like this legendary track. It should be noted that this is also a home track for the team, because the base is near the track, and they have done a lot of races here,” the Latvian racing driver said about the upcoming competition.
Valters continues, admitting that “there is a little bitterness about the technical defect so close to the finish in the first stage, but overall we showed ourselves very well as a team. I am optimistic, because we saw in Mugello that we could fight for the victory. A new weekend, a new stage, let’s go for a good result.” Valters would also like to thank his supporters, without whom the start of the “24H Series” championship would not be possible: “Many thanks to my reliable partners “Baltijas Sporta Auto – Porsche Latvija”, “Optibet Latvija”, “iPS Media”, “Industry Service Partner”, Jūrmala, “Blue Shock Race”, “Joker klubs”, “Energolukss”, “I-Con” and SIA “Dārta”.”

The race weekend in Spa-Francorchamps will start on Friday with training and qualifying, followed by a 12-hour endurance race on Saturday and Sunday. As in the first stage, this weekend’s race will be divided into two parts – on Saturday (from 13:50 Riga time), the first 5 hours will be held, while on Sunday (from 11:50 Riga time), the pilots will have to complete the remaining 7 hours.
