The first day of the opening round of the Baltic Touring Car Championship “DeWALT Grand Prix” turned out to be a real motorsport festival. The Latvian driver Valters Zviedris representing the team “LV Racing” celebrated the victory in the BMW 325 CUP in a big competition of 50 participants.

Last year’s TCR class champion Valters Zviedris proved himself to be the favourite of the competition already in Friday’s qualifying session, setting the fastest lap time, ahead of the French driver Leo Mesenger and last year’s BMW 325 cup champion Karoli Jovaiša from Lithuania.

In the first race, right in front of the spectators, there was a big collision between several cars, which is why the race was stopped and after a while, it was restarted. Valters Zviedris took the lead, holding it to the finish flag. In the second place there was Jovaiša, and the Estonian Romet Reisin in third place.

The second race was not without any accidents either – the Finnish driver Juuso Puhakka had a serious accident, as his car rolled over 9 times. After the restart, Valters maintained his leading position, keeping Jovaiša at a safe distance behind him. Edvinas Žadeikis finished third. In total, Valters celebrated the victory, the second place for Jovaiša, but the third place for Reisin.

Valters expresses thanks to Jurmala City Council for sponsoring participation costs for many years, and to other supporters – SIA “Optibet”, “Gatorz Eyewear Europe”, “Blue Shock Race”, “Joker Klubs”, ”I-Con”, “Rosenso Marketing”, “” and others.
